What is Aquacare?

Aquacare is a warm water therapy session. Aquacare sessions are designed to offered controlled exercise and relaxation in water which is 30°C.

These sessions are instructed by Health professionals Jane Taylor, and remotely Manuela, with assistance from trained helpers to make sure all of your special needs are satisfied. Equipment for these sessions is provided.

If you are unable to participate in the water but would like to take part, please feel free to come along for a cup of tea and a chat.

The Benefits of Aquacare

The benefits of participating in aquacare sessions are endless! The use of weightless exercise combined with the use of buoyancy, resistance, relaxation and improved breathing provide many opportunities to help with health issues.

In addition, the stimulation of gentle and guided exercise can help to improve confidence and self esteem.

Transport

If you have any difficulty getting transport to the Mactaggart Leisure Centre to attend your aquacare session, please do not hesitate to call (Martyn) on tel: 01496810767. We will try our best to arrange transport for you.

How do I join Aquacare?

To join the Aquacare session you can pick up a form from the Mactaggart Leisure Centre or from your Doctors surgery, You have to get your GP to fill in and sign your form before you can attend the session. The information on these forms are confidential and will only be available to Manuela & Jane. This will allow them to assess your needs, they will use this information to advise the session volunteers to provide the best possible experience for you.

Jane Taylor, and remotely Manuela, consistently monitor the sessions and alter the activities which take place in order to ensure progression. There is no pressure to take part in the session and all activities will be with your agreement if you decide to take part. You will be given a time to attend either the first or second session.
